6-Week Fall Program
Ages 5-10
Starting October 7 (CLT day) until November 11 (Holiday), every Wednesday from 9am-4pm (6 sessions once per week), we will be hosting a full-day forest school program at our main location in Petite Rivière for 5-10 year olds. We will all cook a communal meal for lunch (food provided by us). Parents should pack snacks for their child as well. Each week we will let parents know what we are making for lunch and if your child is unlikely to eat what we are cooking, please pack them a lunch. One of the Wednesdays will be hosted at Springtide Farm for a day learning about agroecology, local food systems, foraging, and cooking a meal on the farm.
The program will be filled with free-play, building bushcraft skills, reading, writing, science, and social studies outside. We wish for this to be an opportunity for kids to experience the mental and physical benefits of learning outdoors all day whilst still keeping up with relevant school curriculum material.
This program operates during school hours. Parents and youth are responsible for communicating with their teachers about missed work at school (they will miss 4 1/2 days). We will have 2 or 3 staff on-site depending on the number of children registered.
All-weather programming
With a comfortable shelter and warming place, rain gear provided, and rigorous safety protocols, our programs are designed to get your kids outside no matter the weather. There is fun to be had in the snow, rain, and sunshine! See our Parent Handbook for weather cancellation policies if unsafe weather occurs.
Bushcraft skill-building
We believe that with proper instruction, listening skills, and self-awareness, children can learn to use a variety of tools. It is natural for children to want to learn how to start a fire, tie knots, and use hand tools for building when you spend so much time in the forest. See our safety protocols in our Parent Handbook.
